Woman, aide arrested for cheating
A woman and her aide were held by Hill Palace police on Saturday for allegedly siphoning off Rs 30 lakh and gold worth 10 sovereigns from a temple priest at Tripunithura. They were identified as Salomi, 25, of Marthan-dom and Davy, 35, of Kanyakumari.
Salomi, the first accused, cheated the priest by promising to marry him, the police said. The police refused to give details of the poojari.
“Salomi, a divorcee, had been staying with Davy in Thiruvanan-thapuram for a while. They linked up with the poojari through a matrimonial advertisement,” the police said.
“She expressed her interest and promised to marry him. Later, she demanded that he give her money to buy a house after the marriage.”
By tracking her sim card, the police nabbed Salomi from Thiruvananthapuram, along with her aide.
