Watchman murdered
A 70-year-old watchman was found brutally murdered at the house of a noted Supreme Court advocate in Netoor near here early Tuesday.
The watchman, Mada-thichira Bose, was found choked to death with deep injuries all over his body at the house of advocate and former solicitor general, C.S. Vaidyana-than in Shankar Nagar, which is deserted most times as he lives with his family in Delhi and only visits it occasionally.
Bose was appointed watchman at the house after it was burgled a couple of years ago. Nearly two sovereigns of gold were stolen at the time and a man from Tamil nadu was arrested for the theft.
This time too the police suspects a break-in and thinks Bose was murdered by burglars.
“Going by the brutality of the murder we suspect the involvement of a Tamil Nadu gang. But, as there are no valuables in the house, it would have found nothing to steal,” the police said. The watchman’s body was discovered by his wife and grandson.
“Bose usually reached home by 6 am every day. When he did not return on Tuesday, his wife, Radha and grandson went to the advocate’s house and finding the gate locked, scaled the wall. They found that one of the doors had been broke open and saw Bose tied to a cot with deep injuries inflicted by sharp weapons on his body,” the police said.
He had been choked to death with a cloth. The neighbours claim to have heard sounds at midnight from the house. Mr Vaidyanathan had spent time with his family at the house and returned to Delhi only a week ago.
