Traffic jam at Oberon
Visitors to Oberon Mall are parking their vehicles on the nearby pocket roads, causing avoidable hardships to commuters and residents and worse, congesting the business space.
The situation has grown worse with cops, who used to check illegal parking, vacating their posts near the mall. Angry DYFI activists have stepped in and pasted warning notices.
Customers park their vehicles on roads at will in spite of being allotted a huge parking space. Recently, local people had to knock down two-wheelers to let pass an ambulance, racing with a heart attack patient.
“We are tired of telling those who park on the sides. Most of them do not listen and park right on the road,” said a security man at Oberon.
Motorists honk while going back from movies, adding to the nuisance. The issue is severe on weekends, when customers flock in, and block pocket roads.
Now, offering some relief, a traffic cop has reappeared on the scene, to check illegal parking. But locals feel the problem is more than a cop can handle.
