Talks to end tipper strike fail
The talks held by district collector P.I. Sheik Pareeth with Tipper Lorry Owners’ Association and motor vehicles department officials to settle the tipper lorry strike failed here on Monday.
The owners demanded that the district administration lift the restriction in plying tipper lorries during school time but the motor vehicle department officials refused to accept it, citing the escalating number of accidents caused by the tipper lorries.
The strike by tipper lorries had brought construction activities in the district to a halt.
The collector, meanwhile, said he would make one more effort this week to settle the strike.
