Speeding bus runs over two

Two youths were killed after a speeding KSRTC bus hit the motorcycle in which they were travelling on Sunday night at Choorakadu near Tripunithura.

The victims were identified as Reny Martin (22) and Nikhil (22), both natives of Udayanperoor.

The incident happened at 7.30 pm when the KSRTC bus, proceeding from Ernakulam to Piravom, hit the Pulsar bike while attempting to overtake another vehicle.

“The headlights of the bus also blocked the view of the youths who could not channel away from the path of the speeding bus,” a police official said.

Though the youth were rushed to hospitals, they succumbed to their injuries. The body of Nikhil is kept at the Medical Trust Hospital while that of Reny at the Thaluk Hospital.

A case of negligent driving has been taken against the bus driver, who claimed that the youths came from the wrong side.
