Sit to probe taxi driver’s murder
A Special Investigation Team has been formed to probe the case in which a taxi driver was murdered before being set ablaze at Rayamangalam near Perumbavoor, on Thursday.
Perumbavoor DySP Hari Krishnan has been assigned to monitor the SIT, while Kuruppampady circle inspector Crispin Sam G.S. will lead the team.
Crispin Sam said here on Saturday that the SIT had already sent two teams to Idukki and the Tamil Nadu border to zero in on the culprits.
The cops were tracking the Idukki-based ganja mafia, as victim Hyder Ali’s last trip was to Idukki. He also said the probe was going in the right direction and the killers would be nabbed soon.
The half-burnt body of Hyder Ali was found in a bush at Rayamangalam on Thursday morning. Preli-minary investigations have found that Hyder’s taxi was hired by an unidentified youngster for a trip to Idukki on Wednesday.
While examining Hyder’s call details, cops found that the last call was made from Idukki on Wednesday midnight, which means the murder was committed between Wednesday night and early Thursday morning.
