Science Express chugs into city on August 24
The Science Express-Biodiversity Special, the mobile exhibition train showcasing the nation’s biodiversity and related conservation measures, will chug into the state on August 24 and have halts at Ernakulam and Kozhikode.
The unique mobile exhibition train, mounted o¬n 13 specially designed air-conditioned coaches, is a treasure house of knowledge on various aspects of environmental protection like Climate Change and energy conservation.
“The train houses ‘science hands-on lab’ as well as teachers’ training facility which both students and teachers can make use of.
Audio-visual exhibits and interactive tools make it easy for the visitors to have a deep insight into the subject. We expect mainly school and college students and tutors to visit the exhibition,” a railway official said.
The train will have a one-day halt at Ernakulam Junction on August 24 and will station at the Kozhikode station from August 25 to 28.
There is no entry fee for the ‘Science Express-Biodiversity Special’ which will be open to the public from 10 am to 6 pm.
The railway ministry is running the fifth phase of ‘Science Exhibition-Biodiversity Special’ that will tour the country till December 22, stopping at 52 stations.
In its previous editions, the Science Express covered over 68,000km across the country. With over 63.60 lakh visitors during its 220 halts/exhibitions on 801 exhibition days, the Science Express is now the largest, longest and most visited mobile science exhibition in India.
