Rajesh gets bail because he is MLA
The Kerala High Court on Tuesday granted bail to CPM MLA, T.V. Rajesh, the 39th accused in the Shukkoor murder case.
Justice S.S. Satheesachandran granted bail and asked Rajesh to furnish a bond of `25,000 along with two solvent sureties and asked him to appear before the investigating officer as and when required.
The MLA argued that he had no role in the murder. Besides, he said, his detention was preventing him from carrying out his duties as a legislator.
“Further detention of the accused was not essential for the purpose of the investigation. Considering the facts and the larger interest of the constituency, the petitioner can be granted bail,” the court observed.
Rajesh has been charged under Section 118 of IPC (concealing design to commit offence punishable with death or imprisonment for life).
