Racket kingpin made crores from sex trade
Lissy Sojan, the main accused in the Nedumbassery-Dubai sex racket case who allegedly trafficked as many as 125 women including minors from Kerala to Gulf countries, had struck it rich from the sex trade in the last eight years, said the Crime Branch Organised Crime Wing (OCW).
Prima facie, 43-year-old Lissy had two houses in the Gulf – one at Ajman and another at Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates.
She also had a collection of luxurious cars and was quite well off in the Gulf community, which helped her in evading the police net, CB sleuths added.
However, P.M.Varghese, the DySP who is investigating the case harbours the hope that Lissy will soon fly down to Kerala and surrender before the cops with the probe going on in top gear.
The CB cops have also intimated the Malayali communities in Ajman and Dubai about Lissy Sojan’s alleged involvement in the sex racket. It is learnt that a petition is now being submitted by a few Malayalees in Ajman before the Dubai police.
According to the CB cops, Lissy allegedly began her Gulf-based sex racket in 2004 after being in the trade for years in the state.
The cops also said Lissy’s husband had committed suicide. Lissy had also served two jail terms in Kerala after being charged in two separate sex trade cases.
She was known by the name Aswathy ever since she started operations in the Gulf, the police added. Lissy and her aide Sethulal, were allegedly posing as a couple and operating the racket.
Sethulal surrendered to the police the other day. The CB had already issued a lookout notice for Lissy. She is also expected to surrender before the police soon now that her confidant has surrendered.
