Probe to identify 10 in CPM hit-list: DGP
The state government has launched a probe to identify the 10 names of the 13-men-hit-list mentioned by CPM Idukki district secretary M.M. Mani in his controversial speech, DGP Asaf Ali has told the Kerala high court.
DGP made the submission on the three petitions filed by Mani challenging the FIRs registered against him after the claim he made on May 25 at Manakad in Idukki.
Justice S. Satheesachandran posted the case to Thursday for further hearing. The DGP opposed the petitions filed by Mani and asked the court not to quash the FIRs registered by the state police.
He also submitted that a responsible political party leader voluntarily revealed that his party had killed its enemies. “The revelations were shocking and rarest of rare in nature.”
“The state needs to conduct a probe to find out as to who designed the murder and who listed the names. The fully literate state is still shocked by the speech,” DGP said. Mani, in his speech, had claimed that CPM had prepared a hit list of 13 persons and killed three of them.
The state just started the investigation and quashing the FIRs was not appropriate at this time, the DGP said, and sought a permission to produce the CD of the speech before the court so as to examine its contents.
Meanwhile, Mani challenged the FIRs registered against him in connection with the murders of Anchery Baby of 1982, Muttukad Nanappan of 1983 and Balu of 2004.
