Probe into foul play in listing of cases
The office of the Director General of Prosecutions has ordered an internal probe into the suspected foul play by a section of officials in the High Court in delaying the posting of cases.
The number of cases given to government pleaders in the case list had been purposefully omitted so as to save some of the petitioners, it has been alleged.
Recently, the Additional Director General of Prosecutions noticed that in some of the cases, the case numbers were not given to the government pleaders concerned on the posting date.
It was believed that this practice would delay the appearance of the government pleader in the cases and thus the petitioners stood the chance of getting a favourable order.
The office of the Director General of Prosecutions asked the section concerned to show cause and asked for the reason for the delay.
According to sources in the DGP office, the issue happened due to a clerical error and the office
has alerted all the staff concerned to avoid such mistakes.
