Paravoor sex scandal, attack linked: Victim
In a new twist to the Paravoor attack case in which a hotel owner, Nazer Vaniyakkad, was brutally attacked, the victim alleged that the incident had links to the Paravoor sex scandal case.
Nazer came out in public on Monday and said that the scandal-accused, who were allegedly members of the Popular Front of India, were also making defamatory remarks against him.
“I had issues with one K.M. Asharaf, who was the former state president of Students Islamic Move-ment of India (SIMI), when he was the president of Vaniyakkad mosque.
A few PFI members, who were part of the mosque committee, were also against me. We had protested against the lack of transparency in the mosque funds and other activities,” Nazer recalled.
Nazer also alleged that the vice president of the committee, who was the neighbour of the Paravoor sex scandal victim, tried to save one of the accused by hiding a letter drafted by the girl to the mosque committee.
“He refused to make a complaint to the police. So I published notices detailing the involvement of the accused in the case, which did not go well with the committee members. This is believed to be one of the reasons why they attacked me,” Nazer told a press meet.
