Paravoor molester hides in capital
The Paravoor police investigating the case of a 22-year-old girl molested by a gang which blackmailed her into parting with money and gold to keep it from talking about the 'shame' she had suffered, has extended its search for one of the accused, Rojo, to Thiruvananthapuram on the basis of a tip-off.
The absconding youngster is believed to have shaved his moustache and hair to evade the police, which is taking the help of the cyber police to track his mobile call history and find him.
A nurse by profession, the girl was allegedly promised marriage by one of the accused, Sibin and molested.
He later allegedly blackmailed her with a video of the event and extracted Rs25,000 and 15 sovereigns of gold from her.
Later three other members of the gang also allegedly blackmailed the girl into letting them molest her.
But when she could take it no more, the girl informed her parents, who lodged a complaint with the Paravoor police.
On Monday the police, petitioned the Kothamangalam Chief Judicial Magistrate for a production warrant and for custody of Sibin, 25, of Paravoor, Sherin, 33, of Munambam and Rajesh alias Kuttan Mani, 33, of Pattanam who are currently in judicial custody.
It hopes to recover the money and gold the gang forced the girl to part with using blackmail.
To help it with its investigation it is also examining Rojo's laptop and the mobile calls made by other members of the gang who are already behind bars.
A lookout notice is expected to be issued soon for another absconding member of the gang, Sajith, according to sources.
