Over 40 eateries shut for stale food
Over 40 eateries in different parts of the district were closed by various enforcement agencies including the health wing of the local bodies for want of hygienic conditions and healthy food.
The Food Safety Authority officers focused on the Angamaly and Airport areas while the district health department under the District Medical Officer spread out to different pockets. In Kochi, mayor Tony Chammany and Health Standing Committee chairman T.K.Ashraf, along with the corporation health squad, inspected the eateries.
Thirty five hotels were closed by the district health authorities during inspection while a total of 245 hotels were issued notices. In the city Zam Zam Hotel on Cloth Bazaar Road was closed down.
Health Standing committee chairman T.K. Ashraf said that these hotels have been given seven days to meet the quality stipulations.
