Normal supply of LPG in a week
As the city reels under a severe LPG cylinder crunch, district collector P.I. Sheikh Pareeth on Saturday said that cylinder distribution will be normal in a week.
Mr Pareeth said this after emerging from a meeting with representatives of petroleum companies, gas distributors and the district administration, where he was assured that the current backlog would be cleared in a month.
He said the Udayamperoor plant would resume supply from Monday.
He also said there was no need to be apprehensive about the know-your-customer (KYC) form distributed by the oil companies through their agencies.
The KYC form and the deposit have to be submitted only by persons who have got new connections, or have transfer of connection, a second cylinder, multiple connections in one house, dormant connection for past six months or have switched to another company.
It was not applicable to normal connections and the companies would ensure that there was only one connection for a kitchen, Mr Pareeth added.
Those who exhaust the quota of six subsidised cylinders a year can still get more cylinders from the agencies, but atRs 789 a cylinder. Consumers can avail of just three subsidised cylinders in what's left of this financial year.
