No pay for 3 months for new MVD staff
They joined the motor vehicle department on April 13 and despite serving for nearly three months, are yet to receive their first salaries.
This happened in the case of 26 out of the 78 new recruited assistant motor vehicle inspectors, currently undergoing training at the Thrissur police academy.
They were taken in for the main transport commissioner’s office and the reason cited is clerical delay.
“All these 26 personnel have earlier worked with other departments while the rest of the lot includes 40 freshers and 12 persons who got ministerial promotions.
The reason they cite is that there is only one clerk at the transport commissioner’s office and he is overburdened with work,” one of the newly recruited personnel said.
The offer letter promises to give them a basic pay of Rs 16,180. But the personnel have already doled out nearly Rs 20,000 from their own pockets towards uniform expenses, food and transport charges.
“But why is it that only our pay is withheld while the rest of the lot are being paid?” a newly recruited personnel asked.
The explanation from the authorities is that they require the LPC (last pay certificate) from these personnel as per the rules which has delayed the process.
“But we’ve already submitted this to them. If they are facing staff shortages, they should have temporarily given the job to other personnel,” an official said.
