Needed, new policing methods: IG
Kochi, being one of the fastest growing cities in India, needs a new style of policing, comprising police-public participation, to ensure the complete security of the people here, said K. Padmakumar, Inspector-General of the central zone.
He was addressing businessmen in Kochi as part of an interactive session organized by the Kerala Chamber of Commerce and Industry, at the Chamber Hall here, on Wednesday.
He said that installing surveillance cameras in shops and other institutions will help the police in identifying the criminals at the right time and the right spot.
He also sought the support of the businessmen in setting up surveillance cameras in all the vantage points of the city.
City Police Commissioner M.R. Ajithkumar, chamber chairman K.N. Marzook and vice-chairman Antony Thomas also addressed the gathering.
