‘My city my pride’ launched
Students from 54 schools in the city limits took a pledge to keep the city clean and to practice better waste management on Mond-ay.
As part of the city corporation’s sanitation campaign ‘My City My Pride’ which was launched in schools as part of the pravesanotsavam, students promised to make the effort to process waste at the source.
The corporation has introduced ‘pravesanotsavam – suchitwa bo-dhavatkarana sandes-am’ in all schools following the state syllabus, with the objective of creating an awa-reness among students about the need for recycling and reusing refuse. The message is expected to reach nearly one lakh students within the city limits.
In the second phase, the campaign will extend to CBSE and ICSE schools in the city, said sources at the corporation.
“The campaign for school students has been introduced with the aim of creating awareness about waste management. NSS, NCC volunteers from schools will associate with the corporation in continuing the campaign,” said health standing committee, chairman, T.K. Asharaf.
