Meet is against development: Sudheeran
Close on the heels of the Opposition crying foul over the Emerging Kerala meet starting here on September 12, voices of concern have been raised from the ruling UDF as well.
Congress leader V.M. Sudheeran termed the meet as ‘anti-development’ and said, “If development projects are pushed into controversies, the blame would be on the ruling class.”
The green brigade among the UDF legislators has said no project that would ravage the ecology should be promoted. Also, no public land should be given to private entrepreneurs.
They however clarified they were supporting the meet. However, the government downplayed the concern. Industries minister P.K. Kunhalikutty said it was the policy of the government not to promote any project that would affect the environment.
