Maruti job scam targets Kerala now
Kerala seems to be the new hunting ground of scamsters who have been peddling Maruti Suzuki jobs via email over the last few months in north India.
Several job applicants from the state registered with different online recruitment portals, say they are receiving fake offer letters claiming to be from the recruitment team of the company and carrying the name of Shinzo Nakanishi, its managing director, by email.
The police which have received several complaints of this nature, say with so many people looking for jobs, the scamsters appear to believe the time to strike is right now.
To an unsuspecting person the word document, attached to the covering scam e-mail, can seem genuine enough as it is well constructed, assures the job seeker a handsome package and a nice designation.
The catch, however, apears at the end of the letter, where the candidate is asked to deposit Rs15,200 in a bank account as a sign of his/her interest in attending the scheduled interview.
To make things seem plausible the letter says that the amount will be refunded once the interview is done.
It adds that the name and account number will be sent to the applicant, once a reply is received to the offer letter.
The police officers believe the chances of people falling victim to this scam are high as the amount demanded is not big ompared to the millions asked for by other online money swindling schemes.
“Usually, the online scamsters demand millions and billions. But this amount is comparatively low. So more people, who can afford it, may just send it off,” reasons a police officer, urging people to notify the police immediately on receiving such mails and not reply to them at any cost.
