‘Lunatic’ molests 4 women as train enters tunnel

It was complete chaos in one of the compartments of the Corba-Thiruvananthapuram Express on Monday, as the train entered the Kottayam tunnel.

A man who seemed to be in his thirties suddenly lunged at four women who were shell-shocked as the attack in the dark was so sudden.

The women screamed and as the train came out of the tunnel, the passengers overpowered him.

“As the train left Kottayam station at around 3 pm, the man, appearing to be deranged, allegedly molested four women who were in the sleeper class.

He was overpowered and taken off the train at Tiruvalla station. On being questioned, the man went on murmuring irrelevant things”, an RPF official said.

Initially the women wanted to file a complaint, but decided against it when they heard he was not quite normal.

“We could not get his name or address as he had no luggage with him. All he did was to keep murmuring. As no case was filed against him, we took him to a hospital where it was confirmed that the man appeared to be out of his senses. He was handed over to Navjeevan Charitable Trust,”,
the official added.
