Legislators’ day out in Siruvani forest
For a change, recently, minister Anil Kumar and legislators V.T. Balram, Shafi Parambil and T.N. Prathapan ‘wore down’ their 'khadar' shirts and went trekking in the Siruvani Forest in Palakkad.
While it appeared a stress-buster tour for the four young turks in the Congress brigade, it turned out that their actual intention was a field visit to plan an eco-tourism project there.
Balram told Deccan Chronicle that the short trip was to consider the possibilities of developing the Shiruvani Dam as an eco-tourism project.
The legislators selected a day off from their hectic public life for the purpose. They arrived at the site last week and celebrated a whole day.
“Though I live in Palakkad, it was my first trip to the beautiful place. We didn’t discuss politics much; and once we finished the discussions on the eco-tourism project, we started enjoying our trip. Luckily we got to have a feel of the rain there and the climate was awesome,” he added.
The pictures of the legislators enjoying an odd holiday went viral in the social media. The picture uploaded by V.T. Balram on his Facebook wall got more than 1,700 likes and many shared the photo.
