Kerala is 2nd most searched Indian landmark
Kerala is ranked second in the country among the list of âmost-searched landmarksâ. The list was published by Google on its official blog, based on the searches made on Google Maps as part of the summer-end bulletin.
According to the Google Maps team, it made an analysis of the searches to identify the most-sought-after destinations and landmarks in the world during summer.
âTo do this, we reviewed the summer search activity on maps.google.com in several countries between the end of May and the beginning of September.
Within each country, a look at some of the top-rising searches and the often-searched landmarks on Google Maps gives us a sense of how people around the world spent their summers,â said Manik Gupta, the senior product manager of Google Maps, in his blog post.
Yamuna Expressway, the recently-opened 165 km-long controlled-access expressway connecting Greater Noida with Agra in Uttar Pradesh, is the most searched Indian landmark, according to Google statistics, Anna University in Tamil Nadu and Taj Mahal are ranked third and fourth respectively.
The searches for the Yamuna Expressway are ahead of Kerala only by a slight margin.
The Google Maps team has also analysed US, Canada, Mexico, Italy, Spain, France, the Netherlands and Great Britain to find the most sought-after landmarks in the respective countries.
Popular searches in India was also analysed categorically for the summer bulletin.
This indicates that tourist attractions are the most searched criteria in Google Maps, followed by Railway and Metro stations and religious places.
