JICA fact- finding team visits Metro station sites
The Japan International Co-operation Agency’s (JICA) fact-finding team, which has arrived here as part of the inspection prior to the funding for the Kochi Metro project, visited the proposed Metro stations on Friday.
The team visited the sites at Aluva, Kalamassery, Edappilly, Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Madhava Pharmacy Junction, South Station, Vyttila Hub and Pettah and the Muttam yard premises.
The team accompanied by officials of Kochi Metro Rail and Delhi Metro Rail Corporation project director P Sreeram.
They also inspected the North RoB and Salim Rajan RoB where preparatory works for the Metro were nearing completion and the mono-piling activity at the KSRTC garage which began on Friday.
According to KMRL officials, the inspection team sought details of the alignment and transportation system and would hold another round of discussions with Metro officials on Friday, prior to preparation of their report to be submitted to JICA, which proposes to provide a loan of Rs 2,170-crore for the project.
