Iranian with fake notes held
An Iranian was taken into custody for attempting to make transaction by giving counterfeit notes at Dreams Hotel near Vyttila here on Wednesday.
The arrested was identified as Abdul Majeed Abu Najli, the supervising officer of a Kuwait-based company in Cherthala Infopark.
He was taken into custody on the basis of information given by the hotel authority.
According to police, Abdul Majeed gave six notes of `500 denomination at the hotel reception as room rent. When it was found that the notes were counterfeit, the hotel officials lodged a complaint before Kadavanthara police.
Later, the police took him into custody and also found 32 fake notes from his room. When quizzed, he revealed that he received the notes while exchanging money from Kuwait airport and he knew nothing about it.
The interrogation continued till late on Wednesday night. According to sources, the cops are also trying to get in touch with the Kuwait airport officials. Police added that the quizzing would continue.
