International artists start work on Kochi-Muziris Biennale
The Kochi-Muziris Biennale 2012 is gearing up with the arrival of international artists who will work on projects in the city.
Arial Hassan, an Argentinian visual artist, has already come to Fort Kochi to begin work on his project, titled Hypothetical Future Value (HFV), for the Biennale. He will spend seven days in the city meeting with young residents of Fort Kochi and inviting them to take part in the project.
Hossein Valamanesh, an Australian senior contemporary artist, was also in the city recently to select an exhibition space for an art installation.
He has begun developing an installation for Biennale and will return soon to begin work in Fort Kochi.
Artists who have conducted research trips to Kochi and Muziris include Subodh Gupta, Sudarshan Shetty, Jyothi Basu, Shaina Anand, Reji K.P., Sanchayan Ghosh and performing artist M.I.A.
Biennale will also have artists from Kochi, including Upendranath T.R., Vivek Vilasini, Jalaja P.S., K. Reghunadhan, Zakir Hussain and Siji R. Krishnan.
