'Green blouse' row: Probe finds SSA officer ‘not guilty’
A probe by the district panchayat into the ‘green blouse’ row has found Sarva Siksha Abhiyan (SSA) project officer in Kochi, K.M. Aliyar, 'not guilty'.
The probe revealed that the circular, asking lady teachers to come in green blouse for an SSA programme at Eloor on July 3, was sent without his knowledge. “It neither had the official seal nor his signature,” a district panchayat official confirmed.
Since the row was about a municipality-level programme, the district panchayat conducted its own inquiry. Standing committee chairman K.K. Soman handed over the probe report to the district panchayat two days back.
The SSA programme was scheduled to be presided over by education minister P.K. Abdu Rabb.
Meanwhile, the general education department filed a counter in the high court, as a follow-up to the petition filed by Aliyar seeking revocation of his suspension.
Aliyar had insisted the circular was sent by a group of temporary staff without his signature of official seal, and without his knowledge.
A separate department probe is being conducted by a team led by the director of public instructions A Shajahan.
