Give us the promised jobs: Islanders tell Petronet
Residents of Puthuvype island and nearby areas here are on a protest path against Petronet LNG reneging on their promise to give jobs to locals, especially those whose land were acquired for the LNG terminal project.
An all-party protest is planned for Friday in which all political leaders, including S. Sharma (CPM) and V.J. Paulose (Congress), would attend.
“The company authorities and the then collector had promised permanent jobs to those whose lands were acquired. But they have now appointed outside people and are not saying anything about the local people,” A.S. Benny, vice-president, Elankunn-athupuzha Gramapan-chayath, said.
According to the villagers, the company had given the employment ad online and refuses to give them any job guarantee.
