Get ready for stickers
The Kochi city traffic police is set to introduce a sticker notice system to nail those who have still not removed the cool film from their four wheelers.
The sticker will tell the offenders that they are ‘booked’ and will direct them to remove the film and present the vehicle to the traffic police on a given date.
The move comes in the backdrop of the lack of response from the public despite the police issuing a strict direction to remove sun films from all vehicles following a supreme court directive.
The sticker booking system was already introduced in the city to nail parking violators. So this means that if specially assigned police had only been looking for wrongly parked vehicles, they would have eyed four-wheelers with cool film too.
The new plan had also been set up to help the traffic department. Struggling from a shortage in the work strength, the traffic force in the city has been finding it difficult to manage the ever-increasing traffic
offences.
According to statistics from the traffic department, there are nearly 15 lakh vehicles in the city, while there are only 1,500 police personnel and 250 traffic personnel.
