General Hospital in shortlist of FICCI awards
After launching a slew of projects and facilities, the Ernakulam General Hospital is bidding for the FICCI Healthcare Excellence Award-2012, which will be presented in New Delhi by the end of August.
The General Hospital is among the four hospitals shortlisted from across the country for the award for operational excellence and innovation in the public sector, to be given by FICCI. The selection was made on the basis of an inspection by an independent agency.
The General Hospital, which is the only hospital in the public sector in the state to get the NABH accreditation, now boasts of a first of its kind dietary unit in the country and a modern kitchen from where food is supplied for free at the bed side of a patient four times a day. The bystanders too are given lunch for free.
The facilities that made it vie for the award include a new modern OP block where 2,000 patients are taken care of daily, a centre of excellence for safe injection practices, a modern sewage treatment plant, a ramp, a soon to be inaugurated dialysis centre with 10 dialysis machines and also an MRI scan centre where a scan will be taken for Rs 1,500.
The chairperson of the FICCI jury is former Supreme Court Chief Justice, Justice R. C. Lahoti. The awards will be presented at the FICCI Heal-2012 in New Delhi.
