GCDA says no to BOT model mall project
The executive committee meeting of the Greater Cochin Development Authority (GCDA) under its new chairman, N. Venugopal, has decided to cancel the proposal for a mega shopping mall project under build, operate and transfer (BOT) at Manapattiparambu in Kaloor.
The proposal came up on Friday and it was decided to cancel it as part of the new policy decision not to promote BOT projects. Venugopal had written to the state government seeking to cancel the proposal.
The committee decided to allocate 3.16 acre to 136 poor families in Kunnathunadu constituency for constructing houses.
The Mata Amrithanandamayi Math had agreed to construct houses for these families once they got the land. “Land will be given to the families so that they can construct houses on their own or can seek support of Math,” said Venugopal.
It was also decided to make available Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium for upcoming football and cricket matches in May. Representatives of cricket and football associations met him with the demand.
