Estate: Thankachan sent letter to Ganesh
UDF convener P.P. Thankachan clarified on Wednesday that he had sent a letter to forest minister K.B. Ganesh Kumar, informing him about the constitution of a seven-member sub-committee on Nelliyampathy on March 23.
The panel headed by M.M. Hassan had been tasked with studying the various issues related to estates there.
“The minister may have missed the letter but in any case he had knowledge about the existence of such a committee,” the convener said, refuting a claim to the contrary by Ganesh Kumar.
However, he said, the sub-committee had not been able to hold a single meeting so far, and hence it was now asked to meet urgently and submit a report.
“The UDF co-ordination committee meeting will be held on July 17 where all issues related to the Nelliyampathy and the PC-George-Ganesh Kumar spat will be discussed,” Thankachan said.
He said P.C. George was a member of the seven-member committee but he got himself out citing certain excuses.
He, however, cautioned Ganesh Kumar against “crossing the limits.” He said those holding public posts should maintain decorum and desist from public spats.
Thankachan said during the tenure of this government, the state had not lost a single piece of land. He also said he didn’t believe the advocate general deliberately courted a failure in the estate-related cases.
