Delegates from 48 countries to attend KTM
As many as 500 delegates from 48 countries will take part in the four-day biennial Kerala Travel Mart (KTM), the biggest buyer-seller meet in the country’s tourism sector beginning here on Thursday.
The UAE is sending the largest foreign team of 57 members.
The UK will send 45 members, while Germany 43, Malaysia 31 and France 26.
The number of domestic delegates will come to 1,742 and the largest team, 560, will be from Maharashtra. Goa is sending 287 members and Gujarat 207.
Tourism minister A.P. Anilkumar told the media here that chief minister Oommen Chandy would inaugurate the event at Le Meridien Convention Centre at 6.30pm.
“The KTM, which began in 2000, has immensely contributed to the growth of tourism in the country as it showcases our products under one roof for buyers from outside,” the minister noted.
Apart from B2B meets, the event will also see seminars on ‘Responsible Tourism,’ ‘Buyers Reflections,’ and ‘In The Digital Space.’
KTM president Riyaz Ahmed said the road shows organised by it with the government’s support in East European countries helped in increased levels of participation from these countries this time.
“We have arranged post-Mart tourism for three days for delegates to help them get first-hand information about our sites.”
