‘Complete Metro project on time’
Stressing the need for immediate steps to take the prestigious Kochi metro rail project forward, Principal Advisor to Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), E. Sreedharan said on Wednesday that the project should be completed without any delay.
After visiting the Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL) office, the ‘metro man’ remarked that the two metro agencies, DMRC and KMRL were two sides of the same coin.
In view of this, there should be mutual trust and respect and better coordination. It was the first time the ‘metro man’ visited KMRL’s office since its constitution. “The success of the project will largely depend on availability of land, sufficient funds and quick decision making,” Sreedharan said while addressing the media.
Sreedharan also held discussions with Elias George, the newly-appointed managing director of KMRL.
According to Elias George, Sreedharan’s visit would facilitate a series of dialogues between the
two agencies and this would help the timely implementation of the project.
Reportedly, the reconstituted board of directors of KMRL will hold its first meeting on September 11 at Kochi.
Important decisions, including the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two agencies, will be discussed at this meeting.
