Come clean on Metro: VS Achuthanandan
Stirring another controversy, Opposition Leader V.S. Achuthanandan said on Sunday that people behind Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL) including its managing director Tom Jose were looking for commissions in the Rs 5,168 crore project.
Addressing the media in Aluva, VS said the state government was playing hide-and-seek in the matter of signing the agreement with Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC. He was referring to alleged unwillingness of the government to hand over the main works to DMRC.
“E. Sreedharan (former DMRC chairman) is a man of high integrity and the works should be handed over him and the DMRC,” VS said.
The DMRC is doing the north RoB and Salim Raja flyover, which are part of Kochi Metro works, while it is yet to be handed over the main work.
Chief minister Oommen Chandy denied the allegation, saying, “Some people are out to create controversies. We are not interested in controversies. We want the work get done.”
Chandy had, on Saturday, said Sreedharan would head the Metro work. Tom Jose, however, refused to react to the allegation of the Opposition leader.
