Blouse row: Aliyar to be quizzed today
The Sarva Siksha Abhiyan (SSA) project officer in Kochi, K.M. Aliyar, would appear for questioning before a probe team constituted by the general education secretary on the ‘green blouse’ row on Tuesday even as the embattled official moved court. Saying that someone played a prank, he sought revocation of his suspension.
“I’ve filed a petition as the order was sent without my knowledge. Neither did it have my signature on it, nor the seal. How can I be responsible for someone else’s prank,” the officer told Deccan Chronicle.
The petition against the department was moved last Friday and the court granted 10 days’ time for the respondent to file counter.
The controversial circular had asked teachers to come in “green” blouses for an official programme of the SSA at Eloor on July 3 which was scheduled to be presided over by education minister P.K. Abdu Rabb.
The programme was later deferred till the inquiry into the case gets over.
Aliyar had claimed the circular was sent by a group of temporary staff without his signature or official seal; and he had no knowledge of it at all.
According to him, the seven staff had requested him to make them permanent after their temporary employment period got over by June 30, which he could not do.
Meanwhile, the department has asked Aliyar to appear before the SSA Office in Ernakulam on Tuesday to question him over the controversy.
When contacted, general education secretary M Siva Sankar refused comment.
