ATM fraudsters taken around Kochi
The Kochi police on Friday got four inter-state ATM fraudsters from the Kollam police in connection with the probe into the multi-crore ATM fraud.
The police also took the racketeers to the different ATM centres of the Federal Bank in the city from where they had siphoned off Rs 6 lakh.
The four members of the gang — Ashish Arora (27), Sumitkumar Arora (28), Sunny Gupta (27) and Ramadeep Singh (30), — all from Ludhiana in Punjab, will be in custody with the Kochi police till August 4.
The police are also set to go Punjab next week to seek the custody of two other members of the gang, Kuldip Singh and Sumit Gupta, who are already in Punjab jail, in connection with another case.
According to the police, the racketeers used fake ATM cards of ICICI Bank to swindle money from the Federal Bank ATMs in Kochi.
The police said the accused opened bogus accounts in the names of various persons, mainly residing in the northern parts of the country and forged ATM cards.
The Kollam police recovered more than 500 forged ATM cards from the fraudsters.
The tricksters used to fly down to Kerala, stay in posh hotels and travel in luxury cars.
