70 revenue staffers slog without salary

As many as 70 employees of three offices in the revenue department here have not received their salary for June and indications are that July will not be different.

According to sources, employees with the land tribunal office, land acquisition tahsildar’s office and revenue recovery tahsildar’s office did not get salaries as the finance department sat on a file over an issue of continuation of these offices.

The offices have been functioning since 1987, but their terms were over by February 28, 2012. The staff got salaries from February to May this year following intervention of the additional district magistrate, under an ad hoc arrangement.

“The revenue department moved the file on May 25 but it is yet to be cleared by the finance department,” said an official.

It is learnt that a proposal before the government to merge some of these offices with other offices has led to the delay in issuing the GO.
