1,782 litres spirit seized from TN truck in Edappally

In a major haul, excise officials seized spirit 1,782 litres from a truck that was parked at a petrol pump near Edappally bypass on Thursday. However, the cops could not nab the driver or cleaner of the truck as they were not at the scene.

The sleuths said the spirit was seized from a Tamil Nadu registration truck. It was stored in 54 cans in a secret chamber near the driver’s seat. The excise sources said the truck had been parked at the petrol pump since Wednesday.

It was raided after the intelligence wing of the department received a tip-off. The cops said they got information about the owner and the driver. Both the vehicle and the spirit are in custody.
