A spirit of harmony dwells in this scholarship
The Geddes Scholarship is instituted in honour of Patrick Geddes: biologist, sociologist and city planner of extraordinary vision, who spent almost a decade in India and was impressed by India’s urban centres and what he saw as the spirit of harmony between architecture, water bodies, public spaces and trees.
The objective of the scholarship is to see the relevance of Geddes’ work in the context of Indian cities. The underlying principle being that planning is essentially about people and their quality of life.
ELIGIBILITY and HOW TO APPLY
The scholarship is open to Indian nationals in the age-group of 20 to 35.
The scholarship amount is `45,000.
The applicant can be an individual or a group of individuals.
The proposal
Should be well-researched and must include a plan of action including field visits. It should include a bibliography and be written in 1,500 words. The proposal should be accompanied by a detailed CV, with full postal and telephonic contact details including the names and contact addresses/telephone numbers of two referees.
THE TERMS
The duration of the scholarship will be six months. The grant of `45,000 will be given in two installments; the first at the commencement of the scholarship and the second after the submission of the complete project report.
The applicant will have to sign an agreement with Sanskriti Pratishthan pertaining to a regular flow of work during the scholarship period.
