Small screen stars
A bloodstain pattern analyst for the police, who moonlights as a serial killer. A lady detective with the NYPD, who is smart, suave and mysterious. Television serials have really exciting characters which instantaneously draw youngsters towards them. Teens, who are hooked to English TV serials, share with us the characters they find most intriguing.
Eighteen-year-old Niharika Gupta, a student of St Joseph’s College Of Commerce thinks Barney Stinson from How I Met Your Mother is one of the most interesting characters she’s come across. “He has this funny logic and theories about life (especially girls). The way he looks at everything is different. And he is VERY funny!” This Grey’s Anatomy aficionado finds McSteamy quite fascinating too. “A plastic surgeon who’s hot! Now that’s a great combo,” she quips.
For student Ritansha Patni, Christina Yang and Meredith Grey from Grey’s Anatomy are the most interesting. “They call themselves the dark sisters and they’re so messed up!” she says.
Lorelai Victoria Gilmore, the mother in Gilmore Girls is another favourite character. “She’s the most interesting in the serial. She’s very quirky, witty and all her comments are so funny — they make the show run! I also like Chuck Bass from Gossip Girl. He is the mastermind planner and comes up with all these schemes to get his way all the time,” adds Ritansha.
Temperance Brennan, a doctor in the serial Bones is also another character to look for. A practical lady, who’s not sentimental like the typical heroine, Temperance is ‘different’ and appeals to a lot of Bones fans.
Dexter Morgan from Dexter is one of the most intriguing characters on the small screens, feels student Vishnu S. “Dexter is a serial killer who kills other killers. So he’s a killer with a heart! Michael Hall portrays him so well that it’s hard not to get fascinated by his character,” he says. Kate Beckett, played by Stana Katic in Castle is another character he finds hard to not like. “Beckett’s this super cop who has a liking for unusual cases. She’s damn interesting,” he smiles.
When you’ve got Dexter, Beckett and Barney to keep you hooked to the small screen, why would you want to watch a couple of saas-bahus crying over every silly thing, eh?
