Sibling envy
Almost everyday I have friends who whine and tell me that I’m lucky because all my stuff is mine, when there is a fight there is no one to blame, no sneaking and no tattle-tales. What I would give to have all that, than just a pillow, an imaginary friend and my dog. I have not lived a lonely life and that’s only because I have super cool parents
who were and are my closest pals, but each time I see a brother- sister fight or two sisters laughing about something or sharing an inside joke, that’s when it hits me — something’s missing and it hits HARD. I truly wish I could share that intimate bond with someone who I could always call my own. When I see my dad call my aunt everytime she is a little down, I see nothing but love
and concern in my dad’s eyes. Each time my mom and my aunts sit around playing cards, they giggle like schoolgirls about the stuff they did. I know that the bond they share is special. Even though they have had turbulent times, each of them has a special sister place in their hearts. I don’t have a sibling and unlike what most people say, it is no fun when you fall asleep on a double decker bed with no one on the first deck just you and five other pillows. It is no fun keeping secrets to yourself, nope, not one bit. The only good thing is lots of birthday money. I can’t have it all I guess, but a sister or a big brother would’ve been awesome.
