New teen on the block

She’s only 13, but she’s appeared in 22 films, nine television shows and has been nominated for four prestigious acting awards. Meet Elle Fanning, the teen star who has been making a splash with Sofia Coppola’s latest film Somewhere. The film has been quite a hit on the film festival circuit, but this is hardly Elle’s first brush with fame. She has earlier enjoyed roles in high profile films like Babel and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.

Elle began her career playing the younger version of her more famous sister Dakota, in films like I Am Sam and the TV miniseries Taken. But her talent soon ensured that she got offers for roles of her own, like the title role in Phoebe in Wonderland. But even more than her acting prowess, Elle is being noticed for her fashion sense. Fashion label Rodarte (sported by Natalie Portman in Black Swan) have just named her their brand ambassador and she is starring in a short video for the fashion house.
