The importance of having a best friend
When I’m upset or happy the first thing I do is talk to her. I can call her at any time of the day or night. She knows me better than anyone else. I call her my best friend.
All of us have a friend with whom we can share secrets, speak our heart out and trust blindly. A best friend need not always be a classmate, schoolmate or a colleague a
t the workplace. It could be anyone. In fact, I think every relationship needs to be based on friendship to remain healthy. My definition of a good friend is one who likes you for what you are and stands by you at all times. I found my first and my closest friend in my twin. Both of us did make other friends but our relationship was never affected by that.
The beauty of friendship is that it teaches us important lessons like sacrifice and forgiveness. Each time I changed my school, I had a fear that I may not find friends like these but each time I was wrong, I found wonderful friends wherever I went.
I believe that a friend is a gift sent to us by God. But today we are unable to appreciate this gift because we have to catch up with the fast moving world. Yes, we write mails to each other and meet once in a while but it’s nothing like meeting everyday and sharing every detail of our lives.
The world which gives more importance to material gains than personal relations needs to change. The day we come out of our material world and give more time to this beautiful relationship, there won’t be space for words like depression and stress and we will lead a happier life.
