Happy and free-spirited
If I was a flower growing wild and free
All I’d want is you to be my sweet Honey Bee
All I want is you, will you be my bride
Take me by the hand and stand by my side
Just like the essence of this light but hardly frivolous comedy about a teenage pregnancy done sans melodrama and rich with fluid wit, the soundtrack of Juno matches the easy and upper-intellect tone of the movie. Random, conversational tracks with languid melody and simple, honest-to-goodness lyrics scattered like spilt beads over the movie’s duration, the soundtrack is as important to the film as the characters and the script itself. The tracks make for easy listening and the happy and free-spirited lyrics can’t help but make you smile.
Featuring music by contemporary, less commercial artists like The Kins, Buddy Holly, Sonic Youth and Velvet Underground, the album is a mix of different styles with a common essence.
For the most part, the sound of Juno comes quintessentially from music by Kimya Dawson’s bands, Antsy Pants and The Moldy Peaches, that form a bulk of the soundtrack. The most popular tracks on the album are Anyone Else But You, a song with interesting lyrics and an easy flow, Tire Swing, a conversation set to melody, and of course the title track, All I want Is You, a track that makes you want to smile and skip like a child.
A must-buy for anyone that appreciates both music and lyrics.
There’s a dream I’m always dreaming
There’s a road I’m always walking
And I know you’ll never return to this place.
