Esmee moves to the professional stage

Much has been said about the role that luck plays in our lives. Esmee Denters is one very lucky girl. Starting early, she paved her way into musical stardom by posting her renditions of famous covers by Natasha Bedingfield and Beyonce on YouTube. Her covers soon caught a major tailwind and before long her videos hit over 21 million views. The little Dutch missy soon became the ‘Most Subscribed Musician’ in the history of this video sharing website.

From here, her prodigal journey turned professional. In a typical fairy tale style, Justin Timberlake came across Esmee on YouTube and signed her as one of the first artistes on his private music label, Tennman Records. Getting one of the most popular music sensations in recent pop history to tune in to her notwithstanding, this young artiste soon garnered further attention following her collaborations with noted songwriters and producers.
Out with her first album, a mix of edgy, soulful pop-fuses-rhythm-and-blues music is all ready to become the new trailblazer on top of the charts. Outa Here is a lyrical teenybopper complete with a whole mix of emotions from rebellious done up in her signature pop beats. Eyes For You sounds fun, while Admit It is catchy and Gravity sounds just the track to be added to my playlist. Serious and racy, Gravity, doles out heartfelt lyrics. A quick background check reveals that the song was co-written by Timberlake and was produced by Timbaland protégé Hannon Lane.
You can check her out on YouTube, which shouldn’t be too hard to find, I reckon.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
