‘Clothes don’t define people’
The moment my Board results were out, my excitement knew no bounds. I was the only person in my family to have secured 94% marks in Science. My family was extremely proud of me.
After a few days, when my nerves really settled down, I started thinking about the new college that I was going to join. Finally, I landed in the prestigious Hansraj college, Delhi University. Deep in my heart, I expected that I was going to spend the next three years of my life with the most hardworking people, but all my predictions failed as I entered the vestibule of my class.
What I saw around myself, were perfect faces hailing from various demographics with a great sense of superiority. My classmates would usually come by cars and my journey to the college — suffering jolts in Blueline buses. But gradually as days passed and I started interacting with them I realised that most of my self-made beliefs were not true. Actually, all my so-called superior classmates were really nice. I should say whatever be the outer appearances, they were all desi whether it’s enjoying golgappas on the roadside or just lazying around in college lawns. After all we are the creation of the same God.
As a teenager myself I would advice all my friends not to make set images in their mind just by analysing outer appearance. So even if you’re from a small town, don’t judge people by their clothes and give them time to mingle with you.
