‘Chalta hai attitude has harmed us’
Everything in this country is like a big fat Indian wedding, a lot of mess, rush and hush but everything falls into place in the end.
And this attitude of taking things casually peters down to even our day to day interactions as many feel the chalta hai attitude works for them.
So lets move on to the root of the problem and the end result. Broken roads, bridges, stadiums and infrastructure can be fixed, but what needs to be tackled is a deeper problem residing in our subconscious mind. ‘Why reach work on time when the boss will anyway be angry?’, ‘Why throw the waste plastic bag in the dustbin when the street is anyway dirty?’, ‘Why care about cholesterol when we’re anyway going to die?’ and one fine day when the pink slip, the floods and the heart attack show up we are just too busy telling ourselves “All izz well”.
Because even after knowing the consequences we wish to believe that in the end, it will all be fine.
I feel India had a great opportunity to show what it really is, a great nation, but we botched up an event of international standards, due to corruption and our chalta hai attitude.
