A dog named Yoda that won an 'ugliest dog' contest last year has died. She was 15.

Yoda, a Chinese crested and Chihuahua mix, died in her sleep March 10, The Sun reported on Thursday.

The dog's owner Terry Schumacher, from California, found her abandoned behind an apartment building and took her in despite thinking she looked like a rat.

She was named Yoda after the 'Star Wars' character of the same name.
