Woman, 40, with OCD dies
Tipton, Feb. 6: A 40-year-old woman, who had been diagnosed with obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) and was terrified of germs, was found dead in her parents’ home.
Police said Samatha Hancox, 40, would shower for 20 hours a day and spent all her time cocooned in the front room watching TV, the Daily Mail reported.
She died of dehydration and a skin infection, the newspaper quoted the police as saying following the post-mortem.
The police arrested her elderly parents on suspicion of the manslaughter of their daughter. They, but the doctors told them that she had died, the Daily Mail said.
“She just gave up her fight against it, she was very terrified of germs,” her father, Mr Ken Hancox, 76, lamented.
They are currently on bail while detectives continue an investigation into the death.
“How could they arrest us? We didn’t kill her, it was the disease. She was our daughter and we loved her,” the woman’s mother, Ms Marion Hancox, 77, retorted.
